Kinsa is recruiting for a: Sr. Food Scientist / Bakery
Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Onsite)
Our client is a snack foods, bakery product, and ingredient manufacturer based in Grand Rapids, MI. You will lead research initiatives, drive innovation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to develop market-leading food solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of food science principles, extensive experience in product development, and a passion for helping our customers grow their brands through high-quality, safe, and delicious food products.
Successful candidates MUST HAVE 3-5 years of experience in product development and commercialization in the CPG, bakery goods, ingredients, or related industries.
Compensation/Benefits:
- $100,000 β $120,000 base salary

Key Responsibilities and Goals:
- Lead research efforts and innovation to identify emerging food trends, ingredients, and technologies.
- Oversee all aspects of product development from concept to commercialization, including develop prototypes, conduct sensory evaluations, and refine recipe formulations with cost, shelf life, and consistency in mind.
- Collaborate with Procurement to identify and evaluate quality and sustainable raw materials and ingredients for use in product formulations.
- Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Help foster a collaborative and innovative work environment by providing mentorship to junior R&D team members and sharing knowledge.
Competencies Needed for Success:
- Experience should be in CPG, bakery products, ingredients, seasonings, or related spaces.
- Proficiency in recipe formulation, ingredient functionality, and product optimization.
- Experience with food regulations, food safety standards, and quality assurance protocols.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities, and able to work on and prioritize multiple projects at once.
- Ability to travel to customer facilities up to 20% of the time.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field.
