SUMMARY OF POSITION 

Get introduced to the ironworking trade—which includes stick welding, rigging, and constructing buildings with structural steel—by completing classroom instruction, gaining hands-on experience, and obtaining a welder’s certification.


The Ironworking Development Program has limited openings. 


TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Attend classroom and hands-on training.
  • Perform stick welding (3G & 4G) and wire feeding welding.
  • Perform steel erection, including shake-out, connections, and detail work.
  • Field verify dimensions and perform field fabrication and fitting.
  • Perform rigging work, including jacking, skating, heavy forklift operation, and loading/unloading trucks.
  • Work at heights using ladders, man lifts, etc.
  • Safely work with and around hydraulic and crawler cranes.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


REQUIREMENTS 

    • Must be 18 years or older.
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
    • Must pass Welder’s Certification to complete program. 
    • Must be willing to travel for “out of town” jobs as needed and some will require overnight stay once program has been completed.
    • Strong math skills are essential.
    • Ability to work in a crew-based and fast-paced environment.
    • Must have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
    • Punctuality and dependability are required.
    • Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods and sometimes in unfavorable weather conditions.
    • Ability to pass DOT pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening.
