What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Accountant position at Kinsley Steel, Inc.?
Primary tasks for this Project Accountant position include the project invoicing and payment process, budget to job cost comparison, daily review of job cost related items, subcontract and compliance tracking, and change order preparation.
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with project management team, including preparation and distribution of subcontract and with the required compliance attachments
- Track compliance of all subcontractors
- Support the monthly and annual closeout process
- Job specification review for insurance and bonding requirements
- Prepare owner and subcontractor change orders
- Preparation of monthly project billings; effectively communicate with Project Managers and principals in charge, regarding contract documents and change orders related to billing
- Work with project managers to keep accounts receivable current on all projects
- Monthly analyzing of projects with Project Managers to prepare for financial closing
- Prepare and distribute job cost analysis reports
- Create organized phase codes
- Prepare variance reports
- Demonstrates computer software proficiency (Microsoft office, Viewpoint, etc.)
- Demonstrates proficiency in accounting skills (formulas, calculations, etc.)
- Scan and enter invoices from subcontractors into viewpoint
- Correspond with general contractors, subcontractors and other vendors regarding invoicing and payment inquiries
- Demonstrates effective communication and relationships with owners, subcontractors and vendors
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions
- Directly assist project management teams with any duties required to complete projects on time and within budget
- Provide accounting assistance to Project Managers and operations staff; respond to financial questions and concerns to meet business needs
- Respond to all vendor inquiries
REQUIREMENTS
- Prior accounting experience required; construction or manufacturing project accounting strongly preferred
- Computer and software skills, including Microsoft Office required, Vista/Viewpoint preferred
- Ability to work with all personnel within the organization and facilitate communication effectively
- Ability to work independently and be a team player, must be flexible, and able to work in fast paced and changing environment
