Basic Purpose
Direct participation in the accounting activities necessary to support the operations of The Company, with a primary focus on the accurate and timely regular preparation & entry of accounting information, support of financial reporting and financial account analysis, this position will also participate in various general accounting and finance related processes and projects throughout the fiscal cycle. Under the supervision of the Accounting Management, the Sr. Accountant is responsible for GAAP compliant preparation, participation, support, oversight and approval of assigned processes for AP, AR, banking transactions, journal entries, accruals, depreciation and account reconciliations as well as advanced participation and responsibility in period-end closing activities.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare periodic journal entries to General Ledger (daily/weekly/period-end)
- General Ledger account review and reconciliations
- Journal entry review, approval, posting
- Amortization and Accrual entries in support of accounting processes
- Support and participation in period-end closing
- Review of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable entries
- Perform periodic financial analysis as assigned
- Annual and Quarterly Financial Audits, including preparation of necessary workpapers, liaison with external and internal audit firms
- Perform departmental financial analysis and special projects as assigned
- Complete Internal bank transaction reporting, bank reconciliations
- Periodic issuance of ACH and Wire payments
- Prepare and issue ad hoc reports
- Backup for other accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, FP&A.
- Continuously evaluate accounting practices, suggesting best practice recommendations as applicable
- Participate in periodic review and implementation of new accounting standards in accordance with GAAP / IFRS requirements
- Assure internal control compliance, make recommendations / suggestions for enhancement, audit reporting
- Perform other related duties to support business needs.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Ø Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
Ø 3-5 years accounting experience (preferably in a food processing environment).
Ø Thorough understanding of the Generally Accept Accounting Principles.
Ø Strong verbal and interpersonal skills; ability to relate effectively with a variety of people.
Ø Ability to organize and manage your own time effectively.
Ø Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Ø Strong ability to problem solve & work interdepartmentally on solutions.
Ø Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as with an ERP system. Experience with D365 a plus
