Job Summary
">Kintec Search, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Substation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering group, you will be responsible for designing and developing substation layouts, reviewing drawings, and specifying equipment and construction labor requirements for substation projects.
">About the Role
">You will create design sketches to guide design drafters in the preparation of construction drawings. Conduct preliminary engineering cost estimates for feasibility studies to support project alternative development. Analyze, review, and generate reports for substation projects, ensuring best practices and optimized designs.
">Your Responsibilities

- Perform ampacity calculations, substation grounding, battery sizing, lightning protection, and insulation coordination. ">
- Conduct field inspections and provide engineering support before, during, and after construction. ">
- Attend departmental meetings and participate in committees as needed. ">
- Keep the department informed on project progress, including budget updates. ">
- Stay current with industry developments and maintain knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, and NESC standards relevant to substation design, as well as NERC/FERC regulatory standards. ">
- Support the company's Emergency Response Plan through assigned storm response duties. ">
Requirements
">To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required. ">
- 3-5 years of experience in substation engineering or related operations. ">
- At least 1 year of experience in substation design. ">
- Strong knowledge of substation layout and major equipment, including breakers, switches, and substation steel. ">
- Ability to interpret layout, one-line, and schematic drawings. ">
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong analytical, technical, and computer skills. ">
- Strong judgment, initiative, creativity, and decision-making abilities in handling assignments. ">
- Proficiency with IEEE/ANSI Standards and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). ">
