Job Title: Assistant Natural Gas Controller
Location: Prestonsburg, KY
Position Summary: The successful candidate will assist the Natural Gas Controller who is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of natural gas distribution and transmission systems. This role involves monitoring system performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and implementing operational procedures to maintain system integrity and reliability. The Natural Gas Controller will work closely with other operational staff to manage gas flow, respond to system alarms, and address any issues that arise in the gas control network.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Monitoring and Control: Continuously monitor natural gas flow and pressure levels throughout the distribution and transmission systems using specialized software and control systems.
- Operational Coordination: Coordinate with field technicians and engineers to ensure timely responses to system anomalies or operational issues.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Emergency Response: Act swiftly to manage emergency situations, including gas leaks or system failures, and coordinate with emergency response teams as needed.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze system data to identify trends or potential issues and prepare detailed reports for management on system performance and incidents.
- System Optimization: Implement and recommend improvements to operational procedures to enhance system efficiency, safety, and reliability.
- Training and Development: Assist in the training of new staff and provide ongoing education for existing team members on best practices and new technologies.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of system operations, maintenance activities, and any incidents or corrective actions taken.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure integrated system operations and problem resolution.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in natural gas operations or a related field, with a focus on system control and monitoring.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and other control technologies, and excellent communication abilities.
- Knowledge: Understanding of natural gas systems, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
