Job Summary
The intern role is an integral part of the Academic team, ensuring all curriculum materials are reset for the upcoming school year. This is a hybrid flexibility, internship role based at Headquarters with an anticipated start date of June 2nd.

About the team
The regional academic team drives student growth and achievement through a multi-tiered vision for curriculum, data cycles and targeted professional development.  The team includes senior academic leaders and instructional coaches who collaborate directly with schools.

About the Role
The academic intern supports the resetting of curricular materials for the upcoming school year, supporting the execution of summer professional development and special projects aligned to the interest of the selected individual. This is a non-exempt position and will report to the Senior Managing Director of Literacy & Humanities

Location and Type of Work
As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. This position will generally work independently and not regularly interface with students, families, or  school teams.  This position will primarily work from our headquarters office to maintain a connection to their colleagues and foster a sense of cross-functional collaboration. Because of the nature of this position’s work, this will allow for hybrid flexibility. This role will have approximately 50% flexibility to work remotely. (2 days a week.)

Responsibilities:
  • Update pacing calendars and curricular materials for the upcoming school year. (50%)
  • Collaborate with regional instructional coaches to curate professional development resources (i.e. edit videos, create slide decks and participant packets) (50%)

Requirements & Preferences

Required Qualifications (3-5):

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (at least 1 year completed.) 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to manage short and long term projects to meet benchmarks
  • Works independent with input
  • Familiarity with google suite

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel across KIPP DC schools to help support summer professional development sessions.

Benefits & Compensation

The KIPP DC summer internship program offers a competitive hourly wage of $17.50, allowing you to gain valuable experience while earning a decent income. Interns are eligible to work up to 30 hours per week, providing flexibility to balance your work and personal life. 

Please note that the program will follow the KIPP DC HDQ holiday calendar which includes two unpaid holidays: Juneteenth (June 19-June 20th) and the 4th of July, giving you time to celebrate and recharge.
