The Mission
KIPP SoCal Public Schools (KIPP SoCal) is a nonprofit organization that operates tuition-free, open-enrollment, public charter schools focused on preparing students in systemically under-resourced communities in Southern California for choice filled lives. In July 2019, KIPP LA Public Schools and KIPP San Diego Public Schools united to become KIPP SoCal Public Schools to better meet the needs of our students. We currently operate 19 schools, educate approximately 8,200 students and support an additional 4,300 alumni who are attending high school and college.
\n- Reports to Senior Payroll Manager
- Responsible for processing manual checks with attention to detail for exempt and non-exempt employees
- Preparation and processing of semi-monthly and special payroll; review and ensure accuracy of approved time-sheets
- Performs tasks to establish and maintain employee/payroll records
- Provide excellent customer service to all KIPP SoCal Public Schools’ employees by promptly researching and answering questions and information requests
- Deliver instruction/training to supervisors regarding the use of our HRIS/payroll system including updating of timesheets, approving time off requests, online access of pay statements, etc
- Utilize interpersonal skills to resolve outstanding transactional issues with employees and get them resolved in a timely manner
- Perform other ad-hoc projects as assigned
- Highly organized, attentive, has a sense of urgency, flexible and able to deal with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
- Strong attention to details
- Continually look for ways to improve processes and make recommendations for improvement to management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- **Please note that this position will be telecommuting 8am-5pm (flexible), Monday-Friday and will report to the regional office when needed

- High school diploma (or equivalence) required
- College degree preferred
- 1 years of payroll processing experience
- Demonstrated ability to learn new software systems
- Must be proficient in MS Excel; Intermediate Excel level preferred
- Must be detailed and results-oriented
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to follow directions, research and be proactive
- Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a proven ability to meet and complete multiple deadlines and tasks

- Hourly rate range: $20-$25 per hour, commensurate with experience
