The Opportunity
The Facilities & Grounds Technician/Coordinator role will serve as an essential part of our Facilities Maintenance team at KIPP Columbus. This role will monitor the HVAC controls, the lighting management system, and assist the other technicians with repairs across campus. They will also perform scheduled and preventive maintenance of the facilities. This would include interior and exterior spaces. All of our technicians will have a strong working knowledge of the layout of each building. This individual would respond to a variety of work order tickets through Asset Essentials and respond to the general everyday needs of the campus. The Facilities & Grounds Technician/Coordinator will report directly to the Manager of Facilities & Grounds/ Sr. Associate as well as the Senior Director of Facilities & Grounds.
Job Description
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Facilities and Maintenance
Maintain inventory of materials kept on hand for usage.
Conduct regular walkthroughs of all campus facilities ensuring facilities are in good repair and safe.
Serve on call in the event of unforeseen facilities maintenance emergencies.
Manage various contractors, partners, and service providers with campus facilities project work.
Repairs and Building Maintenance
Complete basic campus and facilities repairs including (but not limited to):
Drywall repairs and painting
Plumbing repairs and installation
Carpentry repairs and installation
Minor electrical repairs
Minor concrete and asphalt patch repairs
Fencing and gate repairs
Assemble furniture
Change lights and light fixtures
Manage and maintain tools and campus equipment
Qualifications
High school Diploma or GED.
Hold a valid Ohio drivers license.
Be able to lift/move up to 100 pounds assisted
Be able to obtain OSHA 30hr General Industry certification within 90 days of your hire date. KIPP to provide the online course opportunity.
Preferably at least one year of facilities management experience
At least 1 year of facilities work experience is preferred.
A track record of performance and successful implementation across multiple concurrent projects, shifting and competing priorities, and driving teams towards results.
Ability to deal with ambiguity and conflict, while leading and managing teams of people, in many instances through influence or without direct-line authority.
Ability to persevere with a sense of optimism, strong problem solving skills, and desire to learn and grow in a collaborative professional learning community.
Willingness, and commitment, to go above and beyond.
Ability to multi-task and work within an ambiguous, fast-moving, start-up environment, while driving toward clarity and solutions.
