Pet Groomer Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Pet Bather or Pet Groomer Assistant who is looking to grow to a full time groomer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals and a commitment to providing exceptional grooming services. As a Pet Groomer, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of pets while delivering high-quality grooming services that meet the needs of pet owners.

Duties

• Perform grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, and nail clipping for various breeds of dogs and cats.
• Assess the condition of pets' coats and skin to determine appropriate grooming techniques and products.
• Handle animals safely and effectively, using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure their comfort and safety during grooming sessions.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the grooming area, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized after each use.
• Communicate with pet owners regarding their pets’ grooming needs, behavior, and any health concerns observed during grooming.
• Provide basic animal care as needed, including feeding, watering, and monitoring pets' behavior while in the facility.
• Collaborate with veterinary technicians when necessary to address any medical concerns that may arise during grooming sessions.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in pet grooming or a related field is preferred but not mandatory; training may be provided for the right candidate.
• Strong skills in animal handling, including experience with kennel operations, vet tech, dog training, or pet sitting.
• Ability to lift heavy animals as required for grooming tasks.
• Knowledge of basic animal care principles is essential; familiarity with veterinary practices is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and team members.
• A compassionate attitude towards animals and a commitment to their well-being is crucial for success in this role.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
