Responsible for operating a mobile service vehicle and traveling to customer locations to perform in-field diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on man lifts, telehandlers, and other aerial equipment. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, computer, and electrical issues, ensuring proper operation, and maintaining safety compliance. The technician works safely and independently to deliver quality service efficiently while fostering positive customer relationships.
Crane Field Service Technician / Mechanic Essential Functions
Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One GoalDiagnoses, repairs, and maintains various types of man lifts, including articulating, vertical, and telescopic liftsTroubleshoots hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems to determine causes of failureExecutes preventative maintenance tasks, including inspections and adjustments, following manufacturer guidelinesCompletes repairs efficiently and within established time framesEnsures equipment meets safety and operational standards as required by OSHA, ANSI, and company policiesMaintains detailed documentation of work performed, including repair reports, part orders, and service logsKeeps service vehicles clean, organized, and fully stocked with tools and partsProvides excellent customer service through clear communication and professionalism on job sitesAttends company and manufacturer training programs to stay updated on new tools, technology, and repair techniquesTravels to customer locations, including occasional overnight staysConsistent and reliable on-site attendancePerforms other job-related duties as assignedCrane Field Service Technician / Mechanic Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or EquivalentAbility to speak, read, and write in EnglishTwo (2) years of continuous experience in diagnosing and repairing construction equipmentAbility to read complex hydraulic and electrical schematicsProficient in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and specialized repair equipmentFurnish and maintain a set of hand tools and any special tools required by the companyAbility to work overtime, stay overnight, and work on the weekend when neededPossess and maintain a valid driver's license; CDL if requiredCrane Field Service Technician / Mechanic Physical Requirements
Pushes / Pulls / Lifts / Carries up to 100 pounds without assistancePhysical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overheadMust be able to work in extreme heat or cold and wet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, hazardous materials, and fumes / odorsPhysical ability to perform maintenance on equipment for extended hours with continual mounting and dismounting throughout the workdayAbility to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional conditionThis is considered a Safety-Sensitive position.
