Material Handler

Position Level: Non-exempt

Reports To : Materials/ReceivingManager

Basic Function: Ensures the accurate and timely receipt of inventory and delivery of material to support the manufacturing environment. Uses company vehicle to deliver product to internal and external customers in a timely and efficient manner.

Essential Job Functions (include but are not limited to):

• Delivers raw material to and from machines according to machine metrics ensuring production demands are met
• Transports material flow through the shop to shipping verifying quantities and customer demands
• Communicates inventory discrepancies to production management for immediate resolution
• Optimizes organization of raw material in accordance with production schedule
• Packs parts to customer specifications with knowledge of customer requirements ensuring quality delivery and minimal rejections
• Stages raw material and work in process daily for 2nd shift production efficiency
• Communicates openly with co-workers, supervisors, and upper management to eliminate inventory discrepancies for production demand
• Operates company fleet vehicles in compliance with transportation policies and procedures
• Loads and unloads all material in compliance with all company safety standards while using a fork truck
• Maintains all safety, maintenance, vehicles inspections, and reports
• Reports all vehicle incidents or concerns to management immediately for corrective action
• Identifies discrepancies between incoming material and packing slips ensuring inventory accuracy
• Reports to work on time each scheduled shift maximizing efficiency for delivery of material ensuring customer service excellence
• Continuous maintenance of fork lift certification in compliance with location written Health & Safety plan
• Exemplifies the company culture by demonstrating strong positive behaviors and fellowship

Education/Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:
High School diploma/GED or equivalent work experience Previous industrial manufacturing experience or equivalent work experienceDemonstrate basic Mechanical aptitudeAbility to do basic math calculationsAbility to follow written instructionsGood written and verbal communication skills

Training to be completed within 6 Months:
Understanding of the vision, goals and objectives of the business unitCompany Business System Software (including ShopTrack & MAPICS)
1. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles & SOP’s
Company HRMS software Internal Safety Training StandardsDiversity Training Kirby Risk learning paths as applicable to the roleSuccessfully complete continuing education required to maintain knowledge of systems and programs

Work Environment:

• Primarily onsite, indoors, controlled temperature environment

May be required to go to other Kirby Risk locations where the environmental conditions will vary
Ability to perform essential functions of this onsite role in a work environment with a variation of noise levels to include high to moderate noise due to hand tools, machinery, heavy equipment, moving motorized vehicles, alarms, vibration, and general conversationsWhile performing in this environment the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration Ability to perform in a fast-paced collaborative competitive manufacturing business environment

• This position will be working in an office equipment utilizing computer, printer, copier, scanner, all equipment related to area

Safety Requirements:

• Report and correct any unsafe task or operation immediately to management prior to continuing task

Immediately report incidents involving injury, illness, safety hazard or property damage.

• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as instructed by immediate supervisor or customer requirements and Kirby Risk Safe Workplace
• Comply with all company and customer OSHA, safety policies, procedures, rules, and best practices
• Participate in safety meetings and training

Be constantly aware of personal safety and that of coworkers.

• Ability to safely and effectively use and operatehand tools (air & electric), power tools, overhead crane, CNC Machine, overhead air hoists, micrometers, calipers, pallet jack, cart, dolly, hand truck, and other equipment required for work

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to push, pull, carry, lift up to 50lbs
• Walk between buildings, across parking lot, & shop floors
• Precise hand eye coordination and robust peripheral vision
• Ability to stand and work with arms at or above shoulder height for extended periods of time while making coordinated arm, hand and finger movements
• Employees are frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Occasionally use hands to operate standard equipment, squeeze, pinch, and reach with hands and arms
• Talk or hear, both in person and by telephone
• Listening effectively when others are speaking and communicate work instructions
• Bend, stoop, twist, reach and shift positions frequently
• Fluid movement of head, neck, and shoulders ensuring safety of others
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
• Infrequent travel required

Certificates/Licenses:

• Forklift certification
• Valid For Hire Endorsement and DOT physical
• Acceptable background check and driving record, within corporation requirements
