Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Estimator to join our team at Kirk Bros. Co., Inc. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates by analyzing proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. You will collaborate closely with the President and other key team members to determine project feasibility, ensure competitive bids, and support the growth of our company.
Key Responsibilities:
Work directly with the President to determine which projects to bid on.
Analyze project plans and specifications to identify labor, material, and time requirements.
Prepare detailed cost estimates by gathering and assessing proposals, blueprints, and specifications.
Assist in developing and implementing department standards and procedures.
Support other estimators and request project management assistance as needed.
Maintain and update the company’s cost database.
Participate in turnover meetings and job cost reviews to refine estimating efficiencies.
Communicate with project management to determine the availability of manpower, equipment, subcontractors, and vendors.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
Collaborate with the sales department on private client proposals and presentations.
Attend industry meetings, training sessions, and safety seminars as required.
Business Development & Promotional Activities:
Foster and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and industry partners.
Represent Kirk Bros. Co., Inc. professionally at public and industry events.
Promote our company within the construction industry to enhance brand awareness and partnerships.
Internal Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with project managers to review job costs and project schedules.
Collaborate across departments to ensure effective information sharing and workflow.
Engage with executive leadership to uphold best practices in construction and business operations.
Encourage teamwork, innovation, and professional growth within the company.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents.
Familiarity with estimating software and cost databases.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
A proactive and detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy.
