JOB SUMMARYThe Director of Facilities plans, directs, and monitors the activities and operations of custodial, engineering, environmental health and safety, grounds, maintenance, public safety, and related support functions. The Director of Facilities is responsible for recommending the hiring of new employees, training, and supervising employees of custodial, engineering, environmental health and safety, grounds, maintenance, public safety, and related support functions.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS ROLEApplied knowledge of leadership and managerial principles.Ability to create and deploy training, develop policies and procedures, and assess and recommend improvements.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diversity of personalities.Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally through oral and written formats, including strong presentation, negotiation, and facilitation skills.Knowledge of how to conduct research, analyze data, identify potential solutions, resolve problems, and provide recommendations and reports.Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and resources and meet critical deadlines.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) ability to learn College-specific computer programs.Ability to develop and apply flexibility, resourcefulness, and creative approaches to unique problems with an understanding of the full institution-wide context.Thorough knowledge of building maintenance and construction project management principles and practices, plan reading, construction safety practices, and project scheduling methods.A general working knowledge of landscape maintenance and irrigation systems. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and statutes.Must have a current Oregon Driver’s License, proof of state-mandated insurance coverage, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONSOccasionally needs to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.Occasionally exposed to dirt, dust, and cleaning solutions, working near moving mechanical parts and may require periodic use of respirators.Ability to regularly walk, lift, carry, climb, stoop, balance, crawl, and other physical activities.
