Job Description

We are looking for on exceptional individual that is either already an accomplished medical biller, or who has an interest in medical billing and collections. This person can provide great customer service, has excellent written and verbal skills, knowledge of computer programs, and has the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining positivity. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Resolve insurance claim rejections/denials, and non-payment of claims by payors.
- Post charges in accordance with correct coding guidelines.
- Draft effective appeals to insurance companies for reimbursement of monies owed.
- Ensure compliance is met, and process claims in accordance with contracts and policies.
- Responsible for identifying, researching, and resolving: credit balances, missing payments and unposted cash as it pertains to billing account follow-up.
- Responsible for identifying, researching, and working with other team members to resolve system issues.
- Responsible for patient and electronic and paper insurance remits.
- Process, and maintain, within expectation, all correspondence received from patients and insurance companies as it pertains to correct and timely billing of claims, and receipt of payment.
- Responsible for helping resolve patient disputes and to ensure organizational and revenue cycle processes are followed.
- Communicate appropriately with clients, insurance companies, patients, co-workers and supervisors.
- Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with patients, payers and co-workers.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of medical billing and insurance.
- Knowledge of managed care, OHP, PPO plans, eligibility, authorization, referral, billings and reimbursement processes.
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
- Knowledge of related industry, state, and federal standards, laws, and regulations.
- Experience with various computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to navigate through computer systems.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent time management and organization skills.
- Strong verbal communication and written correspondence skills.
- Proficient keyboarding ability.
- Ability to maintain a professional manner and appearance.
- Skill in interpersonal relationships.
- Dependable in both production and attendance.
- Able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Able to bend, stoop, reach above head.
Required qualifications for this position include:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience working in a healthcare environment.
- Understanding of clinic operations related to patient registration, referrals, & cash collections.
- Understanding of insurance payer reimbursement.
- Functional experience using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel).
- Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding, and Correct Coding Initiatives and basic accounting.

Those with the following qualifications and experience are encouraged to apply : Certificate in medical billing or coding coupled with at least one year of medical billing/collections experience; or a minimum of two years of medical billing/collections experience. Experience with 837/835 electronic billing/posting.
