Position Summary: Under the direction of the Dental Director, the Dental ClinicManager oversees the day-to-day operations of the dental clinic, providing leadership to the Lead Dental Assistant, Dental Assistants, and Hygienists. This role involves managing employee relations, ensuring optimal patient flow, coordinating schedules, and acting as the key liaison between providers, assistants, and hygienists. The Dental Clinic Manager actively supports the mission of Klamath Health Partnership by fostering a culture of excellence in patient care and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
Scheduling Management:
- Develop and maintain monthly schedules for Dental Assistants, providers, dental students, and the Chiloquin team to ensure adequate coverage.
- Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate call-offs, PTO, and patient flow demands.
- Document staff tardiness and absences to enforce attendance policies.
Dental Assistant Oversight:
- Recruit, hire, coach, evaluate, and, when necessary, terminate Dental Assistants.
- Supervise all Dental Assistants, working closely with the Lead Dental Assistant to ensure efficient operations.
- Conduct and present biannual and annual performance reviews for Dental Assistants.
- Approve or deny PTO requests, submit records to accounting, and ensure timecard accuracy and submission.
Training and Development:
- Collaborate with the Lead Dental Assistant to train new hires, review department policies, and ensure completion of training manuals.
- Coordinate ongoing training initiatives with the Dental Director and Lead Dental Assistant to foster skill development.
Hygienist Oversight:
- Recruit, hire, coach, evaluate, and, when necessary, terminate Hygienists.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Dental Hygienists, updating electronic health record (EHR) templates as needed.
- Address hygiene-related concerns and collaborate with the Dental Director on department improvements.
Internal Liaison and Communication:
- Represent the dental department at mid-management meetings and provide updates to team members through newsletters and meetings.
- Serve as the point of contact for patient resources collaboration and ensure smooth communication between the front desk, assistants, and providers.
- Actively participate in problem-solving discussions regarding policies, salaries, and staffing needs.
Backup Duties:
- Step in for the Lead Dental Assistant as needed, handling tasks such as supply ordering, inventory management, and equipment maintenance scheduling.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with clinic policies and quality assurance metrics.
- Complete and follow up on incident reports as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Current dental hygiene license to practice in the State of Oregon.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a primary healthcare environment, preferably in underserved communities or a Community Health Center setting.
