Veterans Service Officer - Auditor's Office - Goldendale and White Salmon - 32 hrs/wk -Non-Exempt- Grade 67, Steps 1-5 , $27.99 to $31.49/Hr DOQ. First Review 04/25/2025.Counsels, advises and assists military service veterans and their dependents in obtaining benefits provided by county, state and federal laws.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assist veterans/dependents in applying for available federal benefits and appealing denied claims from the United States of Veteran Affairs Regional Office (VARO) by initiating or reopening claims.Assist veterans in obtaining necessary inpatient and outpatient care from the VA Medical Centers (VAMC) and other available outreach programs.Advise veterans, veteran’s survivors and their dependents of their rights under Military Service Benefits Acts and other relevant legislation.Investigate and interview veterans and their dependents to obtain a comprehensive case history for determination of eligibility for aid and benefits.Reviews and file claims for veteran benefits.Develops and maintains close liaison with other veterans’ service agencies.Speaks at veteran organizations, as requested.Provide the Washington Department of Veteran Affairs’ quarterly status report (as received from WDVA) to the Auditor.Obtain Department of Veteran Affairs accreditation through the United States Department of Veteran Affairs (USDVA) within 60 days.Review and report to the Auditor (or their designee) all indigent expense reimbursement claims from Klickitat County’s American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts for compliance with the Klickitat County Veteran Assistance Fund Guidelines.Performs other related duties as assigned.
