Description
The Director of Life Enrichment has overall responsibility for designing, facilitating, and conducting a comprehensive activities program (both internal and community-based) for Mary Schwartz Summit residents. The Director of Life Enrichment supervises Life Enrichment Coordinators and collaborates with other departments to execute Life Enrichment activities. The Director of Life Enrichment is responsible for coordinating resident and family events including parties, recognition events and memorials. The Director of Life Enrichment also acts as point of contact, and on-site coordinator of the Mary Schwartz Summit Volunteer program.
Additionally, The Director of Life Enrichment participates (when applicable) in care conferences, resident rounds and other resident-focused meetings. This participation can include one-on-one interactions with families, as well as documenting resident and family interactions in The Summit’s electronic medical record system.
Qualifications
- Experience working with the senior and elderly population, or related field.
- College degree or event planning experience preferred.
- Experience in planning and providing programs for seniors necessary; experience in Jewish cultural life enrichment events a plus
- Experience with direct supervision of departmental staff and community volunteers.
- Ability to organize and conduct groups around various topics.
- Ability to interact with both staff, residents and family members in a pleasant, sensitive, and confidential manner.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner: strong writing skills and newsletter production experience a plus.
- Can complete required training including CPR and First Aid within 30 days of employment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, residents and family members.
- Experience/training in music, art or recreational therapy.
- Completes required training including Fundamentals of Caregiving, Dementia Specialty Training and Mental Health Specialty Training, within 120 days of employment.
- Computer and technical skills to include email, Microsoft office products, audiovisual equipment, and digital photography.
