Key Responsibilities :
- Data Collection and Analysis :
- Gather and analyze watershed information from diverse sources, including :
- Field reviews and observations.
- Photos and aerial imagery (conventional and infrared).
- Field surveys using conventional instruments.
- Zoning, land use, and topographic maps.
- Soil, drainage, and geological maps.
- Municipal planning agency records and public ditch maps.
- Satellite imagery (e.g., Landsat) and project files.
- Use GIS / CADD tools and modeling software to assist in the delineation of watersheds.
- Engineering Design :
- Support the design of water resource systems such as stormwater drainage, detention / retention basins, and erosion control measures.
- Assist with the integration of sustainable practices, such as green infrastructure and low-impact development.
- Permitting and Compliance :
- Assist in preparing permit applications and ensuring project compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct research to align projects with environmental standards and best practices.
- Technical Reporting :
- Assist in preparing concise and accurate technical reports, including hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
- Document findings using calculations, drawings, and visualizations.
- Field Support :
- Perform site assessments to verify existing conditions and resolve challenges during construction.
- Provide support for construction oversight and quality assurance.
- Collaboration and Development :
- Work collaboratively with engineers, planners, and other stakeholders to develop water resource solutions.
- Participate in training sessions and stay current on advancements in water resource engineering. Qualifications :
- Education :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with coursework or a focus on water resource engineering, hydrology, or hydraulics.
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience :
- 0 to 1 year of relevant experience in water resource projects.
- Certifications :
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred but not required.
- Skills :
- Knowledge of the following software :
- Hydrologic Modeling : HEC-HMS, HydroCAD, GeoStorm.
- Hydraulic Modeling : HEC-RAS, HY-8, Hydraulic Toolbox.
- GIS and Mapping : ArcPro, QGIS.
- Design and Drafting : AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer.
- Stormwater Management : StormCAD, CulvertMaster.
- Project Management and Analysis : Microsoft Excel, MATLAB, or equivalent tools.
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork abilities.
- Other Requirements :
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork and project meetings.
- Ability to work flexible schedules based on project needs.
Core Competencies :
This job description now includes a preference for EIT certification, while still allowing candidates without it to be considered. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

Factors that may be used to determine actual salary include education (or applicable experience), training, job location, competencies relevant to the role, and internal equity.
