General Summary of Position
The Prefabrication Plant Operations Manager exists to drive continuous improvement and optimization of all processes while overseeing all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They will develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity.
Essential Duties (Core Competencies)
Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed customer expectations while implementing LEAN practices.
Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
Be responsible for production output, product quality, and on-time shipping.
Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
Forecast and plan shop workflow for the custom nature of each project/ panel and variety of complexity in requirements for steel, sheathing, blocking, vapor barrier, etc.
Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.
Maintain ICC Certifications.
Manage and develop plant front line supervisors.
Collect and analyze data to find places of waste utilizing LEAN manufacturing practices.
Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
Monitoring and reporting of KPI's.
Coordinate with Design, Project Management, Plant Operations and Procurement.
Material ordering and forecasting, trailer sequencing and rentals, shipping dates, design QA/QC deadlines and constructability.
Stay up to date with the latest production management best practices and concepts.
Create and monitor budgets for staffing and projects.
Hold weekly production meetings.
Commit to plant safety procedures.
Present budget updates bi-weekly.
Assist HR in corrective action for prefabrication shop labor employees
Assist management in developing new products such as modular units, prefinished panels, and inclusion of new finishes/ membranes, etc.
Develop and direct enhancements to manufacturing equipment.
Marginal Duties
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Required to adhere to all Klover policies and procedures.
Supervisory/ Management Requirements
Directly supervises all management employees in the prefabrication and manufacturing operation. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training and engaging employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications

BS Degree in Engineering, Business Management or related field
10 years as a plant manager, operations manager, or director for a manufacturing plant.
Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
Proven leadership experience.
Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
Strong team-building, decision-making and people management skills
Proficiency with a variety of computer software
Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes required.
Prior construction building materials experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably with metal.
Six Sigma Certification.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Knowledge of Smartsheet.
Work Environment
The work environment will consist mainly of heavy work in a manufacturing environment. There may be some exposure to seasonal humidity and extreme heat over 85 degrees, excessive noise, and some vibration associated with the use of tools and equipment. Some hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, caustic chemical, and slippery and uneven walking surfaces exist.
Physical Requirements:
Due to the physical nature of the position, employee must have full dexterity of their hands and arms.
Employee must be able to see objects close and far away
At times, multiple sounds can be heard as employee is working on job, employee must have the ability to focus on the sound in particular that is associated with the task they are completing. Employees with any sort of hearing impairment would not be considered fit for duty to perform this position.
Due to the safety sensitive nature of the position, at all times, employee must be fit for duty and not report to work under the influence of a mind altering or performance altering substance. At no time, should employee be found to be possessing or using a mind or performance altering substance while performing any Company task.
