What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plate Laser Operator position at Klute Inc.?
PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
Set up and operate Trumpf fiber laser with attached plate storage system. Cut metal plate and sheets according to blueprints and CNC program files.
Read and interpret blueprints, equipment specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation.
Sort and arrange cut plate on pallets for follow-on production processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cooperatively track inventory of plate with the manager and CNC programmer to keep materials on-hand
- Set up and perform basic troubleshooting of the laser cutter
- Work with maintenance personnel on troubleshooting and regular preventative maintenance
- Communicate with the machine CNC programmer on workflow, part adjustments, parts ordering, and troubleshooting
- Positions work piece as needed for accurate operation of machine
- Starts machine and observes machine operation to reposition workpiece, change consumables, or adjust machine settings for multiple or successive passes.
- Sort and stack all cut plate on pallets as needed for follow-on production processes
- Inspects or measures work, using rule, gauges, and templates.
- Employee will be responsible for operating a fork truck to move material from different work stations.
- Must be able to be certified in the use of an overhead crane.
- Immediately report all unsafe conditions and product that does not meet quality standards to the lead or supervisor.
- Keep work area clean and orderly at all times.
- Complete paper work for tracking of product.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- All other duties assigned by lead and/or supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Education
High School Education is preferred.
Experience
Trumpf flat plate laser experience is preferred. Other manufacturers of fiber lasers is also suitable. Must have experience with hand measuring tools. Must understand laser cutting, CNC programming and have sufficient computer skills to run required programs and troubleshoot issues.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Standing and/or walking up to 100% of time.
- Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Moving and sorting plate by hand and with use of forklifts and magnets.
- Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls
- Ability to view computer monitor
- Occasional alpha/numeric keyboarding
