Summary:
Welds together metal components as specified by blueprints, work orders, welding procedures and oral instructions using various types of welding equipment in accordance with company procedures and standard welding practices.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Joins, fabricates, and makes repairs to metal by applying the appropriate welding techniques.
- Ability to work well under pressure. Must be able to read and comprehend both oral and written instructions.
- Ability to interpret work orders, blueprints, sketches, and diagrams to determine appropriate welding process. Records number of pieces completed.
- Manufactures parts within given time frames to achieve daily goals to meet customer demands and specifications.
- Works in a safe manner and follows all safety guidelines.
- Required to furnish your own welding helmet and steel toe boots. Personal protective equipment allowance provided by company upon meeting eligibility requirements.
- Good attendance is a must and safety are a priority.
- Must be able to work overtime and have weekend availability.
- Performs other duties as required.
Skills and Specifications:
- Follows directions given from Welding supervisor and leads.
- Works well as part of a team and has willingness to help others when directed.
- Possess troubleshooting skills in seeing weld flaws or imperfections in metal.
- Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment. Heat and cold will be factors.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time in hot conditions.
Education and Experience:
- Vocational diploma in welding or minimum of 2 years production welding preferred.
- Ability to pass a welding test conducted pre-employment.
- Knowledge of commonly used practices and procedures in manufacturing environment.
- Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
- May be regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and vibration.
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and other manufacturing materials.
- Must be able to perform work in a non-climate-controlled environment. Heat and cold will be factors.
- Noise level is usually loud.
- Machinery and tool operation requires use of safety equipment to include, but not limited to steel toe boots, welding/cutting helmet, hearing protection, and safety gloves.
Qualifications
Physical Demands & Working Conditions: Must be able to meet, with or without reasonable accommodation, the physical requirements associated with the essential functions of this position.
- Must regularly be able to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds for force constantly.
Drug screen and Physical Capacity Profile test is required. Safety and attendance are a priority.
Wage is commensurate with experience: Professional manufacturing work environment, with opportunities for advancement.
- 6 level pay grade scale
- Shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts
