About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our growing R&D team at Knightwerx. As a subject matter expert in mechanical design, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team to develop low SWaP sensor technology and small unmanned electric aircraft from the ground up.

Work Experience

Bachelor's or higher degree in relevant engineering discipline

At least 5 years of experience developing mechanisms and mechanical hardware

Experience with full product development lifecycle from concept development through production

Primary Duties and Tasks

Take ownership of significant portions of the sensor development process including mechanical design, analysis, fabrication, testing, and production

Participate in conceptual design and development of mechanical system architecture

Develop trade studies and risk reduction tests to validate designs

Work with external suppliers to quote and procure mechanical hardware

Fabricate mechanisms and test setups using standard prototyping methods

Work with management to develop realistic timelines and scope of work to achieve project goals

Skills and Expertise

Demonstrated competence in mechanical design including development of lightweight metallic and composite mechanisms and structures as well as sealing methods

Experience with complete mechanical engineering lifecycle from design through manufacturing

Demonstrated understanding of material properties and structural analysis

Ability to work within a fast-paced research and development environment

Proficiency with Solidworks and Microsoft office suite
