What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coastal Resilience Coordinator position at Knik Tribe?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Coastal Resilience Coordinator will be the primary point of contact for the project in the development of a model program for both rural and urban (road system) communities to look at coastal resiliency from the perspective of coastal assessment, community involvement, and clean up. This is a full-time temporary job scheduled to run for six months.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will:
· Organize, coordinate, and implement projects to improve resilience to coastal hazards.
· Develop a model assessment tool/checklist that can be used for both remote (Yakutat) and urban (Knik) tribal communities.
· Complete a solid waste assessment of coastal solid waste, fishing nets, and discarded coastal marine debris for both urban and rural tribal communities.
· Provide a presentation on Ocean Stewardship/Resiliency, and cultural exchange at the Hokule community event.
· Complete certification training on Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER).
· Provide community outreach on oceans stewardship and beach/coastal/or riparian area cleanup activities.
· Develop a marine debris cleanup checklist.
o Collected marine debris will be photographed and weighed.
· Support the cleanup process and direct the activities of the cleanup Laborer’s.
· Submit reports to Knik and ANTHC.
· Present at the ATECEM 2026 on the successes and challenges of this project.
· Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Four (4) years of college education in a related field with a minimum of eight (8) years related work experience; OR any combination of training and experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities.
· Two (2) years’ of experience leading resilience or resilience-related efforts; Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities.
· Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
· Clean state and federal background check.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
· Knowledge and experience of Knik Tribe’s Service Area and Knik Tribe’s Programs.
· Adequate understanding of all Microsoft Office Applications.
· Must pass a criminal background check and be free of barrier crimes.
· Clean driving record.
· Knowledge and application of professional and ethical conduct as guided by Knik Tribal Council Personnel Manual Section 8.1.

· Salary: $40.00- $45.00 per hour
