Position Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Building Information Modeling (BIM) Drafter to support our preconstruction and engineering teams by developing accurate and coordinated electrical models in Revit. This role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders and other design disciplines to ensure the successful integration of electrical components within multi-trade models. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proficient in Revit, and committed to delivering high-quality BIM documentation and coordination support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow direction from the BIM Manager, Preconstruction Managers, and Senior Project Engineers to model electrical systems and components using Revit.
- Coordinate and consult with architects, engineers, and other team members to accurately design, lay out, and detail electrical elements within BIM models.
- Create, manage, and maintain Revit families and content libraries to ensure consistency across projects.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of BIM documentation and ensure timely updates of model deliverables.
- Take part in the construction of project documentation, including producing shop drawings, 2D details, and model-based schedules.
- Support model timeline management, ensuring that models are updated in line with project milestones and coordination deadlines.
- Perform clash detection and model coordination using tools such as Navisworks.
- Ensure adherence to company and industry BIM standards, workflows, and best practices.
- Collaborate with field teams and provide digital support as needed during construction phases.
- Continuously seek improvements in modeling practices and automation for efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Drafting, or a related field.
- 2 years of relevant experience with a focus on electrical systems in BIM/Revit.
- Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit; familiarity with Navisworks, AutoCAD, and BIM 360/ACC is a plus.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems in a construction environment.
- Familiarity with BIM execution plans (BEPs), LOD specifications, and industry standards such as ISO 19650.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in MEP coordination and modeling.
- Knowledge of visual programming or scripting (e.g., Dynamo, Python).
- Experience with construction documentation, shop drawings, and fabrication-level modeling.
- Comfortable managing multiple models and deadlines simultaneously
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, walk, and sit for extended periods of time
- Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.
