Sanitation - 3rd Shift
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
(Performs other assignments or duties as required.)
1. Cleans and sterilizes basic plant machinery using cleaning solutions, water hose, rags (change “rags” to utensils), etc. Available to work 2nd or 3rd shift, as required.
2. Turns machinery off before disassembling for cleaning and turns machinery on after reassembling machinery after cleaning has been completed. Ensures safe shutdown and safety lockout of all equipment with tags and individual locks prior to cleaning and sterilization.
3. Cleans floors around machinery and hand scrubs railings as required.
4. Cleans all areas of plant and machinery.
5. Visually inspects machinery for potential maintenance problems and verbally notify supervisor.
6. Examines machinery for starch and mold buildup and cleans with bleach.
7. Removes barrels of waste to waste hopper and empties. Picks up waste hopper and moves outside to receiving drop off.
8. Completes appropriate paperwork.
9. Reports any Food Safety or Food Quality issues to the Supervisor immediately.
10. Drives forklift
11. Completes light janitorial duties.
12. Wears personal protective equipment.
13. Wears respirator.
14. Uses utility knife and other small hand tools.
15. Uses shovel, bucket, sprayer, hose, squeegee, etc.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple written and oral instructions. Ability to communicate any problems encountered.
Ability to add and subtract in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee performs these movements when maneuvering over and around machinery when cleaning.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds when moving bags of cleaning chemicals, boxes of bleach and other items on the process line, such as empty skids, which may hinder the cleaning process. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, due to the quantity and temperature of water used in sterilization, and hazardous or caustic chemicals. The employee occasionally works in high places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Attention to detail. Safety awareness. Time management.

Pay: $19.11 - $19.61 per hour
