Service Writer

Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Service Writer to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing exceptional service and support while facilitating the repair and maintenance of vehicles. Your knowledge of automotive repair and customer service will help ensure that clients receive accurate estimates and timely updates on their vehicle's status.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly and professionally, addressing their inquiries regarding vehicle repairs and services.
• Gather detailed information about vehicle issues and maintenance needs to provide accurate service recommendations.
• Prepare and present repair estimates, including costs for parts and labor, ensuring transparency with customers.
• Coordinate with technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs while keeping customers informed throughout the process.
• Handle cash transactions efficiently, including processing payments and managing customer accounts.
• Maintain accurate records of services rendered, parts used, and customer interactions in the system.
• Assist in upselling additional services such as oil changes, brake repairs, or diesel engine repairs based on customer needs.
• Support automotive sales efforts by providing knowledgeable insights into available services and promotions.
• Keeps service department forms and pricing guides up to date.
• Implements a quality control process to eliminate comebacks.
• Continual improvement of the Mitchell 1 system for order processing & billing
• Assist with implementing & maintaining marketing program
• Email monthly statements to all open accounts on the 1st of each month
• Maintains a professional appearance.
• Ensure a clean and organized workspace while adhering to safety protocols.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Service Writer or in a similar role within the automotive industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of automotive repair processes including brake repair, diesel engine repair, auto body repair, oil changes, and auto estimating.
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service.
• Proficiency in cash handling procedures and ability to manage financial transactions accurately.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Proficiency in email communication, basic internet navigation, data entry, basic excel, and the ability to troubleshoot minor technical issue
• Familiarity with automotive sales techniques is a plus.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in automotive technology is advantageous.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
