Job Summary:
Sheridan is seeking a dedicated Handwork Coordinator to join our team at the Liberty, MO facility. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the operation of the production line and supporting or directing crew members in the binderies. You will play a critical role in producing key components of the end product, rather than handling the entire final product. This position involves managing light equipment, including wrappers, roll feeders, small machines, and routers/mailers, and overseeing handwork tasks to ensure production standards are met.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position. However, the supervisor or manager may assign additional duties associated with this position.
- Coordinate and prioritize handwork activities to ensure smooth workflow.
- Manage schedules for first-class mail and special work orders.
- Collaborate with Distribution and Bindery Supervisors to support overall production goals.
- Read and interpret mailing endorsement lines to ensure proper sorting and bagging of mail according to production specifications.
- Understand postal routing and mailing procedures to guarantee compliance with regulations.
- Assist operators by monitoring product quality and reporting any quality issues promptly.
- Aid in the operation of paper drilling, shrink wrapping, and folding machines.
- Work with the Quality Department on handling rejected or damaged products.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols for machine operation and workplace safety.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure efficiency and safety.
- Perform additional tasks as requested by operators or supervisors.
- When not engaged in handwork duties, take on Material Handler responsibilities as needed.
- Complete miscellaneous tasks as directed by management to support team goals.
Basic Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret written instructions and specifications.
- Capability to follow both written and oral instructions accurately and promptly.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed instructions.
- Proficiency in basic math, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Physical requirements include exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and minimal force consistently to move objects.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Previous industry experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks.
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 70 lbs.
- Must be able to work with hands, arms, and fingers for fine motor tasks.
- Good vision, including close, distance, depth perception, and peripheral vision, is required for reading instructions and monitoring equipment.
