What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Counselor - Night Shift position at Koinonia?
Koinonia is seeking a dedicated and qualified Youth Counselor for an overnight position in its Koinonia Connections Emergency Placement Program in Rocklin, CA. This program provides short-term care for youth ages 6 to 17 who have experienced trauma and exhibit challenging behaviors. Youth remain in the program until a more stable, long-term placement can be secured.
The Youth Counselor opportunity includes:

- Hourly pay rate: $20.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending upon overall qualifications

The following overnight shifts are available:
- Friday-Sunday, Night shift: 9:00 PM - 10:00 AM
Note: We are also open to the part-time schedule listed below if it is a better match for your needs:
- Saturday-Sunday, Night shift: 9:30 PM - 9:30 AM
Responsibilities include:
- Supervise youth during overnight hours
- Help with preparing program needs for the following day
- Providing direct care and supervision of youth in a residential setting
- Implementing individualized treatment plans that address their unique needs
- Working collaboratively with other staff members to ensure the safety and well-being of youth
- Maintaining records for youth
- Attending requirement meetings and trainings
- Light housekeeping and/or cooking
The ideal candidate will be a compassionate individual with good boundaries who has a passion for helping at-risk youth. They will also have good interpersonal and communication skills; good de-escalation skills (training is provided); be reliable and dependable; work productively under minimal supervision; have a high degree of integrity and confidentiality; and a schedule that is flexible to meet work requirements. In order to ensure proper supervision of youth, there is no opportunity for sleeping. This is an awake night shift position.

Important Note:
Qualified candidates must complete a criminal background clearance through the California Department of Justice and FBI to ensure eligibility for employment, as well as a pre-employment physical and TB test. This position requires a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation as driving is an essential job function. The Youth Counselor must be able to safely and reliably transport youth to medical appointments, therapy sessions, educational activities, and other essential services that support their overall well-being. In addition, the Youth Counselor must be prepared to respond to crisis situations by providing immediate transportation to ensure the safety and security of the youth, often in locations not easily accessible by alternative transportation methods. The nature of these responsibilities necessitates the ability to drive to ensure timely, reliable, confidential and effective support for the youth and families we serve.
