Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Compensation: $180,000 to $200,000 per year, Depending on Experience
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer to strategically plan policies that assure Company stability and sound fiscal management.
- Represent the Company as Chief Financial Officer with governmental and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Plan, organize, control, and direct business support operations of the Company, including general accounting, enterprise accounting and operations, internal and external audits, payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, budget, monitoring, and reporting.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Company fiscal policies; develop and document standard accounting and operational procedures; assure Company compliance with federal/state accounting and reporting guidelines and regulations. Coordinate training as needed.
- Prepare and/or analyze financial and budget data as it relates to the financial status of the Company.
- Provide guidance to accounting staff relating to proper business procedures, accounting, cash handling, controls, and other business-related matters.
- Plan and coordinate the fiscal year-end process within required time frames and federal/state guidelines to assure accuracy of the Company’s annual financial statements and reports.
- Coordinate with IT as to the systems that relate to the integrity of fiscal data, accounting procedures, controls, and reporting, including the specifications for any new systems or applications.
- Oversee the planning and coordination of the annual external audit, and review; respond to audit findings and implement operational reviews, changes, and adjustments as might be appropriate.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of accounting/finance staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accounting license (CPA)
- Possession of a Bachelors degree in accounting, business administration, or a closely related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; Masters degree in accounting or business administration preferred
- Experience with integrated systems that advance the operations of a complex organization
- Leadership style that is creative, collaborative, productive, and outcome oriented
- Possession of a California Drivers License (or the ability to obtain one) and the ability to drive a motor vehicle to various locations as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of, and/or experience in the organization and management of fiscal services and operations, including budget development and control, accounting, employee benefits, payroll, contract management, risk management, facilities development, maintenance and operations, and/or related functions
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws related to accounting practices and the cannabis industry
- Skill in analyzing data and information from diverse sources to create comprehensive plans and to provide appropriate interpretation of federal, state, and local laws and regulations
- Skill in the use of computerized information and systems and their use in analysis and reporting
- Skill in strategic planning technology and methodologies, including facilitation of group planning activities
- Skill in oral communication, including public speaking
- Skill in written communication
- Skill in directing, coordinating, and evaluating the work of others
- Demonstrated skills in working successfully with a team of employees to establish goals, motivate, evaluate, and meet deadlines
- Ability to provide leadership and work effectively as part of an educational leadership team
Other Misc. Requirements:
- Must be able to work from one of our offices in either Rio Vista, CA or Concord, CA.
- Selected candidate will be required to complete a post-offer, pre-employment background check.
