Position Summary: The Junior Microbiologist will play an essential role in ensuring that Kolmar USA's products meet the highest microbiological standards. As a key part of the quality team, you will assist in the testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products for microbiological quality and safety. This role is ideal for a motivated individual eager to apply their microbiological knowledge in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while learning and growing in the field.
Do YOU Possess These Skills and Attributes? To excel as a Junior Microbiologist, you should have:
· Basic understanding of microbiological testing methods, protocols, and techniques.
· Previous experience (or coursework) in microbiological testing, preferably in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, or cosmetics industries.
· Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other regulatory requirements (FDA, etc.).
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate across departments.
· Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn new techniques and procedures.
· Experience with basic microbiological laboratory equipment (incubators, autoclaves, microscopes) is a plus.
Responsibilities:
· Assist in performing microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure quality and compliance.
· Conduct routine microbiological analysis, including testing for pathogens, total plate counts, yeast/mold, and other microorganisms.
· Maintain accurate records of test results, deviations, and any corrective actions taken.
· Support investigations of microbiological non-conformities and help implement corrective actions in collaboration with the quality and production teams.
· Ensure all microbiological testing is performed in compliance with established SOPs, GMPs, and regulatory guidelines.
· Participate in the development and continuous improvement of microbiological testing procedures.
· Assist in preparation for internal and external audits and inspections.
· Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
· Assist in new product development by providing microbiological input during the formulation process.
· Be available for overtime and weekend work to meet production demands and maintain microbiological quality.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field.
· Previous experience or internship in a microbiology role, preferably in a manufacturing or laboratory setting.
· Strong knowledge of basic microbiological testing methods and laboratory equipment.
· Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and perform manual tasks when necessary.
