JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Tax Analyst to join our team in primary support for the U.S. Tax Managers.
The responsibility for this role encompasses various tax areas including assisting with direct and indirect tax filings, support indirect tax audit data compilation, management of tax exemption certificates collection, handling of general internal and external tax inquiries, working with tax tools to ensure tax records are entered accurately and timely. This person will work with Tax Managers to plan, prepare, and deliver timely and accurate tax returns and payments ensuring we comply with all relevant regulations. This role will help to ensure tax data is organized and collected in accordance with KONE Accounting Standards, Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP) and International Accounting Standards (IFRS). This role is expected to provide assistance to Tax Managers in the successful management of indirect and direct tax responsibilities and defense of KONE position in all Tax Audits (Income tax as well as Sales & Use tax). The person will be the SME for the Vertex. This role will support the KONE Auditors and others with any kind of tax related work.

JOB DUTIES : Indirect Tax
- Responsible for management of tax exemption certificates, including collection and saving copies of all required certificates.
- Pull exemption certificates from various sources, research validity of each certificate, and load into Vertex within 24-48 hours of receipt.
- Support sales and use tax audits by pulling indirect tax audit documentation, including tax exemption certificates, pulling of ERP / Vertex reports and other various documents, and maintaining tracking files.
- Develops a solid working knowledge of the business to defend tax positions.
- Manage KONE Tax Mailbox and ensure that all emails are responded to within 48 hours
- Collect and research data and reports within Vertex and SAP to ensure controls are maintained and compliance requirements are met.
- Assist in review and maintenance of various matrices for sales and purchases across all areas of the U.S. business.
- Assist in recoverability of taxes remitted to states by supporting tax refund projects.
- Organize and participate in calls with various third parties to provide and receive tax information, internal stakeholders, auditors, and various taxing authorities.
- Prepare clear and concise instructions and communications on various tax topics to internal users.
- Researching independently as well as partnering with external advisors to ensure the correct interpretation and application of tax laws and regulations.
- Utilizes technology for process automation.
- Handles multiple tasks within a restrictive due date delivery timeframe.

The ideal candidate for the Tax Analyst role possesses advanced analytical and organizational skills, excels in written and verbal communication, and demonstrates a high level of accountability and collaboration. They are self-motivated, capable of working independently and as part of a team, and proficient in meeting tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks.
Key qualifications include expertise in Excel, knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred), and familiarity with tax software. The candidate should have a solid understanding of U.S. corporate tax requirements, tax research, and documentation, with a strong desire to identify and implement process improvements.
Additionally, the candidate must be able to simplify complex concepts, grasp business processes, data flows, and systems like SAP, and conduct research to support audit defense. A positive, adaptable attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential.
