The Engineering Document Controller reports to the Chief Engineer. The Document Controller is organized, with excellent attention to detail and is capable of multi-tasking and self-prioritizing workload. He or she must be capable of reviewing mechanical and electrical technical drawings to be able to extract BOM and other pertinent information. They must be able to work in multiple software programs, with strong skills in all Microsoft office suite products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint. The Engineering Document Controller must be able to effectively communicate with engineers, other groups with the company, and outside vendors and customers, utilizing excellent verbal and written skills.
The responsibilities of this individual include:
- Process Engineering Release Notices (ERN’s) into the document system. This includes interaction with SAP® and EPDM®.
- Administer labor entry for the engineering department including verifying all engineers have entered their time each week, running reports, correlating contractor time sheets.
- Assemble customer transmittals including documents and drawings. Submittals may include electronic formats and hard copy drawings.
- Perform data entry into SAP (MRP system) for materials on drawing’s Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Track hours associated with engineering jobs and post each week. Run multiple weekly reports to assist with drawing release tracking and time tracking.
- Assemble PDF drawing packages for installation crews
- Work in myriad software programs including SAP, EPDM, Winshuttle, Teamcenter, Alfresco, AutoCad, Solidworks, and MS office programs.
- Work with company global data integrity team to identify obsolete, duplicated, and superseded part numbers. Facilitate data transfer between groups within the company, with the assistance of the global data integrity team.
- Perform other duties as designated by the Chief Engineer or Asst. Chief Engineer
- Track and process invoices for contracted engineering labor.
