Import Traffic Coordinator

Location: Linden, NJ
Employment Type: Contract (7-8 months)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Compensation: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an Import Traffic Coordinator to provide efficient cargo distribution and ensure all shipments reach their correct final destinations without discrepancies. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to coordinate import traffic operations with accuracy and efficiency.

This role requires a proactive and organized individual who can monitor shipments, communicate with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure documentation accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the Outturns Email Box and verify that all freight has been received at the CFS (Container Freight Station) without discrepancies.
  • Send Cargo Availability Notices to alert customers of freight arrivals.
  • Communicate with internal coordinators regarding any freight issues or discrepancies.
  • Create, arrive, and update In-Bonds to track cargo movements accurately.
  • Report and communicate freight arrivals and discrepancies with the warehouse team.
  • Maintain and update the Departed Load Plan Spreadsheet to track shipments.
  • Review and monitor QP/WP Late Arrival Reports daily to ensure timely processing.
  • Complete assigned tasks and projects as directed by management.
  • Maintain accurate and timely communication with internal teams, domestic and overseas offices, and external partners.
  • Domestic Load Planning – Assist with planning and coordinating domestic shipments.
  • Container Dispatch – Manage and monitor container dispatching activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Preferred: Experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Customer service experience in a logistics or freight-forwarding environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while ensuring accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • A proactive and problem-solving mindset.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in customer service or a similar role is preferred.
  • Strong administrative skills with proficiency in office software applications.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Excellent computer literacy with the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Previous experience as a dental receptionist or in a similar healthcare setting is advantageous but not required.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
