The purpose of this job is to manage, supervise and track the daily activities of both the Fire Extinguisher department and all of the technicians associated with the team. Assisting with sales and service/test of Fire Extinguishers when needed.
Primary Functions:
Supervise and track daily activities of department and service technicians (check-in/Check-out procedures)
Monitor and track activity of GPS devices on technician vehicles
Ensure technicians are up-to-date on all required safety and other training and licensing
Complete monthly evaluations and year end reviews for personnel
Distribute and maintain the successful completion of all monthly and demand work orders through the Service Manager Dispatch Board
Review and process completed department paperwork for accuracy
Manage associate time off (PTO, Missed days) and process payroll
Coordinate staffing needs to cover assignments when needed
Ensure the cleanliness and operability of each service vehicle ensuring they are maintained to standards (i.e. Vehicle Inspection Reports, Haz-mat Doc.)
Ensure all issued equipment is maintained, calibrated and in good working order as required by the manufacturers
Conduct weekly quality control inspections of completed service work
Maintain established routes in service technician’s absence (i.e. Vacation, Illness, Injury)
Maintain and distribute weekly the technician incentive versus hourly report
Serve as a motivator and coach for each technician under your direct supervision
Conduct, at a minimum, biweekly department meeting
Attend quarterly service manager and other meetings
Maintain the on-call list if applicable
Maintain customer relationships and an active smaller route when required
Service Fire Extinguishers, adding correct powder amount, pressure, labels & collars, etc.
Remove extinguishers & cylinders safely and take them to Koorsen branch for Hydro Testing when required
Sell New Fire Extinguishers & add-on products to customers when needed
Perform effective sales calls and “cold calls”, visiting businesses to generate new sales and service leads and follow up on new sales leads and potential customers to generate new business
Knowledge, Education, Licensing and Experience Requirements:
Must know and follow NFPA codes
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Must be able to inspect Fire Extinguishers and make sure they are up to code & update tags
Must be able to safely and effectively use general hand tools and power tools
At least 4 years experience as a fire extinguisher technician
Active Driver License, in good standing required & must meet Koorsen safe driving policy criteria
Must be able to pass drug and background screenings
Previous supervisory experience is required
Required to have a TN fire suppression and extinguishers

Must be able to exercise effective time management skills (prioritize, work on a time line)
Must have a strong mechanical and/or electrical systems aptitude
Must be able to inspect Fire Extinguishers and make sure they are up to code & update tags (Check pressure, powder levels, inspection dates, extinguishers pins, powder in hose, potential charge, leaks, installed properly, etc.)
Must be able to safely and effectively use general hand tools and power tools
