What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compensation & Rewards Specialist position at Kootenai Health System?

Position Summary
Assists with the implementation and administration of compensation and rewards programs in alignment with Kootenai Health's vision and strategies. Provides guidance across all levels of the organization and ensures consistency of practices. Supports the development and maintenance of programs, policies and practices that enhance Kootenai Health's ability to attract, retain and motivate talent. Creates a positive experience for employees and high level of customer service.
Responsibilities
- Supports the daily activities of the organization's compensation, shift incentive, rewards and recognition structure
- Maintains the job description management system and develops processes for efficiency and standardization
- Supports projects that further the development of compensation, shift incentive and reward plans and recognition programs
- Assists with the compilation, analysis, and reporting of data for benchmark surveys
- Oversees shift incentive processes, documents approvals, and compiles submission for payment on bi-weekly payroll
- Supports recognition programs and reward fulfillment processes, maintaining appropriate stock and submitting order requests; analyzes order trends to prepare for high volume seasons
- Assists with activities around troubleshooting data, error handling and general issue resolution
- Conducts job analysis including drafting, creating or revising job descriptions and assessing the job's value in the marketplace as needed
- Assists with employee shift incentives and market increase processes
- Supports analytics, reporting, and audit processes
- Participates in initiatives and workstreams supporting the Best Place to Work
- Provides support for ongoing research into emerging trends, issues and best practices to ensure practices support recruitment, retention, and internal equity, reporting details up to team
- Assesses competitors plans and makes recommendations for enhancements or improvements required to keep the organizations plans competitive and effective
- Assists with the maintenance of compensation structure, position creations and changes the in the HRIS system to ensure data integrity
- Supports the maintenance of policies, procedures, and processes by ensuring documentation is up to date and in response to current and future organizational needs
- Advocates, educates, and communicates compensation philosophy to employees and leaders
- Works with staff members to address compensation and classification related inquiries
- Collaborates with other people services functions to ensure alignment and integration of compensation and reward programs and policies
- Analyzes situations to solve employee issues related to compensation and rewards while creating a positive experience and interaction
- Stays current with applicable compensation legislation
- Maintains strict confidentiality with requests and processes
- Demonstrates values of the Kootenai Health Way
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, preference for human resources or related field; 2 years' human
resources experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
- Minimum 2 years' human resources experience with proven knowledge and application of compensation fundamentals required, in addition to education requirement
- Analytical mind, keen eye for detail, innovative problem solving and decision making
- Strong collaboration and partnering capabilities combined with a demonstrated ability to influence
- Able to cope well with ambiguity and enjoy working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- A high degree of integrity and confidentiality
- Detail oriented and excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Must have excellent computer skills, with advanced skills in MS Excel and Word
- Must have superior interpersonal skills; ability to positively interact with diverse personalities
- Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
