Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Quality and Risk Management, this position directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of system-wide clinical quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Oversees CMS Inpatient and Outpatient Quality Reporting Programs, including promoting interoperability

Manages the submission of the Leapfrog Survey and Hospital Safety Score processes

Leads performance improvement activities throughout the organization

Provides accurate and timely reporting of mandated reporting metrics and quality data registries such as NCDR, VON, etc.

Reviews and evaluates quality program effectiveness

Develops and implements clinical quality improvement initiatives

Monitors compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards

Conducts regular audits and assessments of clinical practices

Analyzes data to identify trends and areas for improvement

Collaborates with clinical staff to develop and implement action plans

Provides training and support to staff on quality improvement processes

Leads quality improvement meetings and committees

Develops and maintains quality improvement documentation

Stays current with industry best practices and regulatory changes

Manages and resolve quality-related issues and incidents

Promotes a culture of continuous improvement and patient safety

Prepares and presents reports on quality performance to leadership

Supports the development of policies and procedures related to quality

Participates in strategic planning for quality improvement

Mentors and develops junior staff in quality management practices

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function

Performs other related duties as assigned

Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

BSN required; master's degree in a related field such as healthcare administration, business administration, or nursing preferred

State of Idaho Registered Nurse OR licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multistate privilege to practice" compact with Idaho prior to start date

Minimum 7 years' relevant experience in healthcare and quality improvement required

Minimum 5 years' leadership experience required

CPHQ or other relevant certification required within 1 year of hire

In-depth knowledge of health care incentive and public-reporting programs including CM's Promoting Interoperability, Hospital Acquired Conditions, Readmission Reduction and 5-Star Rating and the Leapfrog Survey and Hospital Safety Score

Strong ability to earn trust and build/develop relationships with others at all levels of the health care system

Demonstrates a high degree of management competency, including but not limited to leadership, collaboration, coaching, teaching, negotiation, motivational skills and conflict resolution

Demonstrates computer expertise using Microsoft Office and database software applications

Excellent communication and presentation skills and be able to make effective oral presentations to a variety of audiences

Effective analytical ability to develop and analyze options, recommend solutions and solve complex problems and issues

Working Conditions
