Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician
Position Summary:
The Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician (IBHC) is part of the outpatient primary/specialty care clinic team and works closely with the medical provider, nurse, medical assistant, and other team members targeting behavioral health needs to include the mental health and substance use challenges of the patient population. The IBHC provides evidence-based time-limited assessment, consultation, and therapy services to patients and families to promote behavioral health across the lifespan through easy-access, excellent interdisciplinary teams, and integrated care both individually and in group settings making/coordinating referrals to external community resources when necessary. Works within the medical clinic setting in collaboration with the medical care team, as well as community agencies to foster patient wellness and satisfaction in a warm, therapeutic, and respectful manner.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the medical provider and outpatient clinic team ensuring delivery of comprehensive clinical services to primary care patients that target interventions to improve patient functioning, behavior and clinical outcomes
- Systematically tracks treatment response and complete clinical documentation in the patient's EHR within required timeline
- Identifies and evaluates health risk behavior(s), assesses and diagnoses mental health and substance use conditions, develops care plans, and provides brief, targeted interventions to support optimum mental, behavioral, emotional and physical health
- Participates in offering stepped behavioral health care to patients, collaborating with the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for psychiatric medication management needs and referring to specialty mental health and substance use care when warranted
- Supports medical team as needed around assessing and intervening for patients at risk of harming themselves or others, domestic violence. Identifies a safety plan and refers to appropriate services
- Participates in patient care staffing(s) with the clinical care team
- Provides clinical consultation and psycho-educational trainings on behavioral health related topics to staff, students, consumers, and other agencies as requested
- Participates in medical clinic and department performance improvement meetings as well as in-service training opportunities
- May provide general supervision to unlicensed behavioral health clinicians and bachelor's degree students as assigned
- Meets minimum direct service productivity requirements as defined by manager
- Maintains understanding of insurance payer requirements and processes for billing
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician I
- Master's degree in social work or counseling required
- Licensure and/or certification as required by the State of Idaho required
- Current licensure in Idaho as LMSW/LPC, OR current licensure in another state as LMSW/LPC or equivalent AND license in the State of Idaho to be obtained within six months required
- Minimum 1 year of experience providing direct behavioral services that include: assessment, consultation, evaluation, plan development, treatment coordination, and case management to patients in a healthcare setting or community mental health center required
- Highly effective communication skills and ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and documentation within the EHR required
- Familiarity with evidence-based brief treatment; Behavioral Activation, Problem Solving Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy preferred
- Previous experience with integration of behavioral health and medical care, wellness, and population health models preferred
- Previous experience providing education on behavioral health topics to patients, families and health care providers preferred
- Compliance with accepted professional standards and practices

- Master's degree in clinically related field such as social work or counseling required

- Current licensure in Idaho as LCSW/LCPC/LMFT, OR current licensure in another state as LCSW/LCPC/LMFT or equivalent AND license in the State of Idaho to be obtained within six months required
- Minimum 2 years' experience providing direct behavioral services that include: assessment, consultation, evaluation, plan development, treatment coordination, and case management to patients in a healthcare setting or community mental health center required
- Highly effective communication skills and ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and documentation within the EHR required
- Familiarity with evidence-based brief treatment; Behavioral Activation, Problem Solving Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy preferred
- Previous experience with integration of behavioral health and medical care, wellness, and population health models preferred
- Previous experience providing education on behavioral health topics to patients, families and health care providers preferred
- Certified Case Manager (CCM) preferred
