1. Purpose of Position
This position will conduct VOC program victim of crime advocacy, outreach activities, and more. This position varies as to what language is required and will be specified in job announcements. Position can be full or part-time depending on needs of KWA.
2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Manager to run the daily service, provide training and working with volunteers
- Provide direct assistance to crime victims and their families.
- Coordinate with civil or criminal justice system
- Assist with filing for Crime Victims Compensation, writing Victim Impact Statement
- Coordinate with the healing center support services
- Offer emotional support, resources, referrals and assist with typical struggles created by victimization
- Conduct the personalized safety plan for clients
- Provide follow-up and ongoing support with clients
- Translate documents from English to Spanish as needed;
- Plan and execute outreach events to promote the programs;
- Make presentations about programs one-on-one or to groups of people as well as leadership network meeting
- Maintain proper client records, document individual meetings, document referrals, document intake/progress/exit procedures and program data. Communicating summaries of these records to internal and external sources as needed;
- Provide monthly and quarterly report of programs effectiveness to the program manager;
- Enter data for monthly reports accurately and timely;
- Participate in staff meetings and training as requested;
- Other duties as assigned.
ADVOCACY AND COLLABORATION:
- Ensure comprehensive and confidential trauma-informed crisis intervention services are provided to survivors of crime victims;
- Provide individual advocacy and case management services to support survivors in identifying needs and options within the framework of their culture, abilities, and support network;
- Coordinate with the legal advocate to provide legal advocacy services around civil, criminal and immigration issues;
- Build and maintain alliances and partnerships with social service providers;
- Participate in local coalitions and task force meetings;
- Attend training as required;
- Make referrals to community services; and
- Attend staff, agency, and community meetings as necessary.
3. Position Requirements and Qualifications
- Satisfactorily pass criminal history and reference checks;
- Must have bilingual ability to speak, read and write English and Spanish;
- Must have current driver's license, reliable transportation, current auto insurance;
- Strong understanding of assigned community, including best way for outreach;
- Self-motivated, communicates well with all people;
- Good computer skills - data entry, MS Office, MS Excel Outlook Calendar;
- Ability to produce quality written communications;
- Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills;
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Ability to be flexible and perform work under time pressure; and
- Ability to work with people of diversity.
3.1 Educational Level
Must have high school diploma or foreign equivalent; Some college preferred.
3.2 Experience
Experience in community outreach, advocacy and/or organizing preferred.
4. Working Conditions
- Environmental parameters:
- Ability to work in an office environment; and
- Ability to drive to different locations.
- Physical demands:
- Type: sedentary work ability to perform administrative duties, typing, filing, bending over to low files, reaching high files;
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move an object; and
- Work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking, standing, bending, twisting, reaching and driving.
5. Work Schedule
- Ability to work hours as assigned up to full time.
