How to be Successful in the Role:
On this team you will be client focused, proficient in trauma-informed advocacy, understand the dynamics and intersections of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and trafficking. You will also understand the role of system-based advocates, have knowledge of laws as they relate to confidentiality, mandatory reporting, system-based services and role of community advocates for support. Partnerships throughout the community are relied upon heavily, so the ability to successfully collaborate with others is crucial. The entire group here works with individuals and families in crisis, so it is important you have a strong understanding of self-care.

The Crystal Judson Family Justice Center has a hands-on onboarding process for all new team members through online training, community training, shadowing client interactions, and work. Throughout your employment you will receive direct, constructive feedback from peers, teams, and supervisor to facilitate your success and meet your professional goals while having access to Peirce County’s outstanding leadership development programs. Core Daily Responsibilities:
This is a competitive selection process. Your application will be reviewed and evaluated for the quality and quantity of education/experience in the areas listed. Applicants whose qualifications most closely correspond to the County's needs will be eligible for further consideration. Core Daily Responsibilities:
- Work with a multifaceted team including members from the Pierce County Sheriff’s (PCSD) Domestic Violence Unit, Crystal Judson Family Justice Center (FJC) staff, and community partners housed at the FJC to ensure victims/survivors needs are met and they have access to ongoing support.
- Develop relationships with agencies through the community that serve victims/survivors.
- Provide culturally competent care that respects diversity in the victim/survivor experience and is responsive to the different needs and backgrounds of all victims/survivors.
- Provide support to DV Unit Deputies by contacting victims/survivors with information on their cases, providing outreach on police reports, and supporting victims/survivors during interviews with the PCSD’s DV Unit.
- Coordinates access to interpreters for victims/survivors needing interpretation services.
- Connects victims/survivors to FJC Community Advocates for those wanting and needing confidential advocacy and additional resources.
- Follow confidentiality requirements of the system-based advocacy position to include advising victims that their statements will be provided to law enforcement deputies.
- Engaged in ongoing training from Prosecutor’s System-Based Advocates and FJC Community-Based Advocates.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date record keeping.
- Maintain regular, predictable, punctual attendance during regularly scheduled work hours at assigned worksite.
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in social work, psychology, human services, or other closely related field.
- Minimum two years case management experience (domestic violence experience desired).
- Additional education and/or related experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements.

- Understanding of the overlap of domestic violence and substance use disorder.
