Korn Ferry has partnered with an industry-leading manufacturer & fabricator to identify an Architectural Engineer to join their growing Dallas Leadership Team. The Architectural Engineer will apply their engineering expertise alongside a strong understanding of outdoor functionality, aesthetics, and design to develop safe, durable, and sustainable shade solutions. This role focuses on designing shade systems for public spaces, recreational areas, and outdoor commercial properties. A solid foundation in structural engineering, material selection, and environmental considerations is essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities :
- Design & Development : Create innovative and functional shade structures, such as shade sails, pergolas, pavilions, canopies, and tensioned fabric structures, with a focus on aesthetics, safety, and sustainability. Vet projects during the presale process by reviewing client requirements, site conditions, and budget constraints to determine project feasibility, potential challenges, and design optimization.
- Collaboration : Work closely with architects, landscape architects, project managers, and contractors to integrate shade systems into overall site designs while ensuring compatibility with the environment and other architectural elements.
- Structural Integrity : Conduct structural analysis and use appropriate engineering techniques to ensure the shade structures are safe, stable, and able to withstand environmental factors such as wind, snow, and UV exposure.
- Materials Selection : Evaluate and recommend materials, including fabrics, metal, and tensioning systems, that provide durability, weather resistance, and sustainability for shade applications.
- Compliance & Regulations : Ensure all designs adhere to relevant local building codes, safety standards, and environmental guidelines. Consider aspects such as UV protection, energy efficiency, and environmental impact in designs.
- Project Oversight : Oversee the implementation of shade structure projects, ensuring that design concepts are executed properly, and handle any on-site adjustments as needed.
- Client Liaison : Communicate directly with clients to understand their vision, provide technical advice, and ensure satisfaction with the final product.
