Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Residential Operations to lead and scale their residential operations team. This role will be instrumental in building a team from the ground up, developing operational processes, and managing a rapidly expanding multifamily portfolio through new development. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a passion for team-building, process optimization, and delivering exceptional resident experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Team Building & Leadership
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing residential operations team to support a growing portfolio.
- Build a scalable organizational structure that can expand alongside the company’s development pipeline.

- Develop training programs and career pathways to retain top talent and ensure operational continuity.
Operational Process Development & Scaling
- Design and implement scalable property management systems and processes to support a growing portfolio.
- Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for leasing, maintenance, compliance, resident services, and financial management.
- Leverage technology to improve operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure seamless property transitions from development to lease-up and stabilized operations.
Portfolio Growth & Development Integration
- Collaborate with development and asset management teams to align operations with new developments and acquisitions.
- Lead the operational planning and execution of lease-ups for new multifamily communities.
- Develop and execute strategies to optimize occupancy, rental income, and resident retention.
Financial & Performance Management
- Establish budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes for residential operations.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational success and drive continuous improvement.
- Optimize expense management while maintaining high levels of service and operational excellence.
Experience and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 10 years of combined experience in an operational leadership role in conventional housing and/or SFR/BTR real estate operations, hospitality management and operations, or similar industry
- Proven track record of building and leading teams in a fast-growing, development-driven portfolio.
- Deep expertise in lease-ups, property transitions, and operational strategy for new developments.
- Strong knowledge of property management software (Yardi, RealPage, MRI, AppFolio).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic problem-solving skills.
