Research and Development Scientist
Position Overview
The R&D Scientist/ Innovation Technologist is responsible for driving innovation, developing new products, and improving existing ones. The position will lead the charge of conducting research and assessments, coming up with new formulations, performing tests, streamlining product requirements and guidelines, collaborating with fellow experts, utilizing previous studies and advanced software, and maintaining records of all procedures. This role is out of our Manufacturing Plant in Louisville, KY and will be reporting to the Technical Director. This is an in-office position, with occasional travel required to our other facilities, or as required.

Key Responsibilities:
Research and Development
Steers the Research and Development function for the organization under the leadership of the Technical Director.
Leads new product development efforts by evaluating, qualifying and specifying materials and products for new product innovations & technologies.
Manages the development of product certifications /product compliance and technical qualification of materials and new products.
Design and execute Lab experiments and pilot it through scale up procedures including preparation, documentation and post-trial results.
Work with operation for successful trials.
Ensures all mandatory lab and scale-up work in I2M and Capex processes (FEL)
Project Management
Definition and planning of required experiments, in collaboration with the Technical Director
Record, document and feedback observations and test results
Document results in form of status reports, presentation or product design package
Manages project workstream; coordinates work packages with or as project manager
Knowledge Management
Ensure the development of the laboratory infrastructure with regards to new technologies development with the Technical Director
Document and represents the chemical-technological potential of the lab (e.g. presentations, poster sessions)
Attends training to develop additional competences and application development knowledge
Ensures FTO (Freedom to operate) during process development
ESHA
Safe handling of chemicals
Ensure Koroseal’s ESHA guidelines in own area of responsibility
Reports safety deviations
Reports essential sustainability measurements for new product development with EHS Manager
Skills & Qualifications
BSc or MSc degree in chemistry or chemical engineering with relevant application development experience of 5 years.
Prior experience in a laboratory or R&D setting.
Experience with materials science including coatings, adhesives, inks and polymer films
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality control processes in the chemical industry.
Experience in an industrial manufacturing setting, preferably web processing such as printing, packaging or converting
Experience in development, validation and commercialization of new products
Ability to work responsibly and independently.
Business experience: Entrepreneurial spirit and cost awareness to support the project in the efficient use of resources.
