Job Summary
The Koury Corporation Accounting internship offers a variety of opportunities to learn real estate accounting and finance principles.
The Accounting Intern is responsible for multiple accounting duties in the Corporate Accounting Department. These responsibilities include ensuring the accuracy of leases in the accounting system, processing tenant charges and payments, invoice entries, journal entries, and various other accounting and administrative duties.
Location & Salary:
This internship will be located at our Corporate Office. This will be a summer internship, and the interns are expected to work 40 hours a week. Office hours will be 8.30 – 5.00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Qualification and Attributes:
- Candidates will be required to be currently enrolled in college pursuing a degree with a major or concentration in accounting/Finance.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite and other business applications.
- Basic understanding of accounting and financial analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Individuals should have strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to be a team player.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
- An awareness of current developments in the accounting profession.
- Establishing a practice of accuracy in dealing with information (numeric and alphabetic).
- Experience and aptitude to perform detailed work within an accounting system.
Responsibilities:
- Cash management, General Ledger, Real Estate accounting & financial reporting for the Koury Corporation Construction business.
- Support Accounting with ongoing or new projects.
- Assist with the study and evaluation of internal accounting controls.
- Invoice entries, assist with bank reconciliation, vendor statement reconciliation.
- Daily download of cleared checks for reconciliation.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for departmental leaders using accounting software. Analyze reports for account variances.
- Prepare month-end general ledger account reconciliations and related journal/accrual entries.
- Assist with various accounting procedures for multiple foreign entities: month-end journal entries, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, monthly reporting, and other miscellaneous tasks.
