Job Summary: The Junior Residential Reconstruction Estimator assists in preparing and estimating budget costs for residential construction projects. This role involves reviewing plans and specifications, evaluating purchase offers, and resolving cost discrepancies. The Junior Estimator works closely with project managers, clients, and other professionals to develop accurate bids, prepare reports, and ensure construction projects stay within budget.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and estimating budget costs for construction projects by reviewing plans and specifications
- Evaluate offers and proposals based on site requirements, additions, and changes in costs
- Resolve cost discrepancies by gathering and analyzing relevant information
- Help write and present budgets, reports, and project plans to clients and stakeholders
- Support the development of bids for residential construction projects
- Collaborate with adjusters, contractors, and other professionals to ensure accurate project assessments
- Schedule and attend meetings with clients, site managers, and staff to discuss project details
- Understand and apply relevant building codes to ensure compliance in all estimates
- Process necessary paperwork and travel to job sites as needed
- Monitor construction processes to ensure adherence to budgets and timelines
- Stay informed about updates to safety codes and trends in the construction industry
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong math skills, including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
- Proficient in preparing proposals and presenting project details
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously
- Familiarity with the latest building codes and safety regulations
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Requirements:
- At least 1-2 years of related experience in construction or estimating (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply)
- Knowledge of QuickBooks and related software
- Experience with Xactimate for creating estimates or writing billings is a plus, but not required
