Summary:
Entry-level position to forecast project cost, working under immediate supervision. Performs routine duties requiring knowledge of basic principles of estimating. Junior Estimator will learn all aspects of the project from drawing details, materials, installation methods, and the constructability of the systems to be installed. Learn to compile anticipated labor, materials, and direct job expenses based on the types and sizes of projects and proposed construction methods to create a reasonable, accurate idea of the costs associated with a project. Essential Accountabilities:

Learn how to review RFP (Request for Proposal- Pricing) or ITB (Invitation to Bid) for a thorough understanding of the customer's project, the customer’s project needs, and the project’s dates/deliverables.
Receives assignments from the Chief Estimator and responds promptly to the needs of fellow team members.
Begins to learn and gain working knowledge of bid forms with breakdowns, bid bonds, Insurance Certificates, Safety Info, Company Qualifications, Scope and Clarifications, Contract reviews, Schedule, Proposal Forms, Fee Proposals, Drawings, and Samples.
Review bid documents for all requirements, takeoff plans per Ludvik phases, bid form, bond requirements, and insurance requirements, and initiate contract scope reviews, schedules, and general and supplementary conditions.
Develop the scope of work and pricing matrix for review with the Chief Estimator.
Provide project requirements for vendors and subcontractors. Contact vendors and subcontractors for vendor quotes.
Learn to create Estimating Files and conduct material and labor takeoffs thoroughly, accurately, and in the specified order per Workflow.
Corresponds with General Contractors, Architects, and Engineers, including attending pre-bid meetings, site visits, or other pre-requisites.
Prepares draft of proposal letter for review with the Chief Estimator.
Prepares Direct Job Expense Worksheet.
Reviews estimates and proposals with Chief Estimator for submittal.
Completes follow-up of estimates and proposals up to and through the notice of award and the turnover meeting.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED
2+ years of electrical construction experience and/or training
Microsoft Office experience in Word/Excel/Outlook.
Ability to read blueprints.
Ability to commit to and meet deadlines.
Must have good organizational and communication skills
Increasing knowledge of the NEC Code and understanding of its application.
Increasing knowledge and ability to manage multiple job tasks simultaneously.
