KPM Human Capital Solutions is seeking a Controller, with an emphasis in financial and administrative management on behalf of a Springfield-based manufacturing & distribution client. What You’ll Do
• Oversee the financials of multiple companies under the same ownership.
• Consolidate financial reporting, ensuring compliance across all entities.
• Implement best practices for efficiency and accuracy across the portfolio of businesses.
• Prepare and deliver reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
• Identify cost savings mechanisms throughout the organization and make recommendations for implementation.
• Advise executive management about a variety to topics, including insurance coverage protection, and operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
• Represent the Finance department on the leadership team, and provide input and recommendations to leadership on matters concerning finance, accounting, and the admin department.
• Monitor all aspects of accounting operation.
• Identify areas to improve cash flow within the organization.
• Direct determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
• Direct preparation of budgets, review budget proposals, and prepare necessary supporting
documentation and justification.
• Maintain and ensure accuracy of all general ledger accounts, including inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies.
• Prepare documents and statements to file state and federal taxes.
• Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate and oversee all month end posting activity within the company to properly close the
month on a timely basis. This includes the preparation and review of journal entries as well as
all subsidiary ledgers.
• Perform and oversee the monthly closing process, including the preparation and validation of
financial statements.
• Maintain cash control for all operating cash accounts and arrange for audits of all company
accounts.
• Prepare monthly sales tax returns and all quarterly use tax returns on a timely basis to ensure that all reporting deadlines are met.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred, 5 years of progressive relative experience and/or training.
• Experience with mid-sized companies undergoing transformational change; wiling to embrace the opportunities and navigate that challenges that come with such change.
• Proven success in leading teams, especially establishing or rebuilding accounting departments, and creating strong, effective departments.
• Experience or interest in the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), helping drive organizational change and fostering accountability within the company.
• Success with change management initiatives, understanding the importance of establishing trust, and fostering collaboration within a team.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and ERP systems.
• Integrity is non-negotiable.
• Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax law.
• Excellent communication skills – ability to speak and write effectively in a way that helps drive progress. Keeps leadership informed at a high-level and translates complex financial information in a way that is understandable.
• Ability to thrive in a high-autonomy role. Must have intrinsic motivation and a desire to take full-ownership of rebuilding the accounting function.

• Must be able to physically perform basic life operational functions: standing, walking, feeling, talking, hearing, lifting, climbing, balancing and making repetitive motions.
