Key Responsibilities:
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their deli-related needs, offering product recommendations when necessary.
- Slice and prepare meats, cheeses, and other deli items based on customer orders or pre-packaged requests.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and cleanliness, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Monitor product quality, freshness, and inventory levels, restocking items as needed.
- Package and label deli items for display, ensuring accurate pricing and product information.
- Operate deli equipment such as slicers, scales, and ovens safely and efficiently.
- Assist in preparing ready-to-eat meals, salads, and sandwiches.
- Support the team in keeping the deli area clean, organized, and well-stocked.
- Process customer transactions accurately, including handling cash, credit card payments, and applying any store promotions or discounts.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth department operations and exceptional customer service.
- Assist in opening and closing procedures, ensuring that all tasks are completed and the department is ready for the next day.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a deli, food service, or retail setting is a plus, but not required.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and willingness to adhere to them.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate equipment safely.
