Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Infant Teacher to join our dynamic team. As the Lead Infant Teacher, you will play a key role in fostering a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment for infants and toddlers, focusing on their early development, growth, and well-being. You will be responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate curricula, guiding a team of assistant teachers, and building strong relationships with both children and their families.


Duties
  • Curriculum Development & Instruction:
  • Plan, implement, and assess a developmentally appropriate curriculum tailored to infants (0-12 months) or toddlers (1-3 years), promoting cognitive, physical, emotional, and social growth.
  • Create an enriching classroom environment that stimulates curiosity and learning through play, sensory activities, and developmental exercises.
  • Regularly assess individual children’s development and tailor activities to meet their evolving needs.
  • Classroom Management:
  • Lead, supervise, and support assistant teachers and staff in day-to-day classroom operations.
  • Ensure that all classroom activities are safe, engaging, and in line with best practices for early childhood education.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom that promotes positive learning experiences.
  • Parent and Family Engagement:
  • Establish strong communication with parents, providing regular updates on their child’s progress and behavior.
  • Foster positive relationships with families, offering guidance and support as needed for both developmental and behavioral concerns.
  • Organize and lead parent-teacher conferences and workshops as necessary.
  • Child Safety & Well-being:
  • Ensure the safety and health of children by adhering to all safety protocols and maintaining a secure environment.
  • Provide age-appropriate care, addressing children’s needs for feeding, naps, and hygiene in a timely and compassionate manner.
  • Team Leadership & Professional Development:
  • Mentor and support assistant teachers in their professional growth, offering feedback and guidance in their work with infants.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in early childhood education.
  • Record Keeping & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of children’s progress, milestones, and any special needs or concerns.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks, such as attendance, incident reports, and developmental assessments.

Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional childcare training or certification are a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare or early education setting.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role is highly desirable.

Certifications:

  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hiring).

Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding of child development principles, particularly in infancy and toddlerhood.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with families and a team.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
  • Physical requirements include standing, bending, and the ability to lift children (up to 40 lbs).

Nice To Haves
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (Highly Preferred). 
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification or equivalent (preferred).
  • CDA (preferred).
