What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Technician R&D position at Kraton Polymers LLC?

The purpose of the Sr. Technician role is to provide laboratory synthesis, analytical, technical service and manufacturing support to scientists, to support the maintenance and growth of the business in target market segments. The Sr. Technician is expected to perform all duties in a safe manner, and to maintain a safe operating environment.
Safety
* Carry out activities following well defined safety and environmental standards
* Monitor the lab to ensure regulations and safety are enforced
Experimental
* Formulate, set-up and execute ad-hoc experimental programs under supervision by selecting from a limited range of known methods and/or conditions; adapts experimental set-up based on results
* Execute experimental programs with responsibility for quality of data produced and meeting agreed deadline
* Troubleshoot equipment issues; carry out basic maintenance of lab equipment
Data Analysis
* Obtain & organize experimental data independently before submitting to supervisor
Communication
* Provide information to predominantly internal customers regarding results obtained
And other duties as assigned to safely perform.
- Basic understanding of underlying scientific concepts related to the experimental work
- Ability to build experimental set-ups and modify based on results and select the appropriate components and/or auxiliary equipment
- Ability to explain to others how and why the applied methods/equipment work
- Ability to conduct routine presentations and adequately answer ad-hoc questions
- HS Diploma 6 years relevant experience OR
- Associate Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering/MLO/MBO Vocational Background 4 years relevant experience OR
- Bachelor of Science: Biology, Chemistry, Engineering 2 years relevant experience
